Laylock Press was born from a desire to follow in the steps of self-publishing authors such as William Blake, William Morris and his Kelmscott Press, and Virginia Woolf and her Hogarth Press, and to explore the internet as a medium of distribution, and PDFs as a medium for the digital word. The ‘digital’ nature of the Press is not intended to shun the paper page or book, but rather to put the choice in the reader’s hands. The press is currently run solely by Derya Davenport, and the output is small and select. ‘Private’ denotes only that publication is not open to application; publications are available for immediate download as PDF files.I
have a BA in English & MA in Literary Studies from Aberystwyth University. I wrote my MA dissertation on the Language Poets & their use of the internet. I co-founded The (now defunct) Young Writers Club in 1995, was published in a few places, and read some books. At the moment I live in Wales and work as a knitwear designer.
